God’s Church does not exist for itself. We have been created, reconciled, and purposed for something beyond us. Together, we must embrace the call God has given us as witnesses and partners in His mission to the world.
Here at Harmony Chruch, that means joining God in what He’s doing in our neighbourhoods, our city, our country and our world. It means discovering the unique passions and talents created in us and using them to showcase His love to the world around us.
We believe that following Jesus means to live for the sake of the world. Living out the Gospel always involves faith that is in motion. Our desire is to create a community of Christ-followers that carries the Kingdom of God into it’s surrounding neighbourhoods.
“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us.” 2 Corinthians 5:20
“If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:17-18
Along with serving our city we want to be on a mission in our everyday life. A huge way we can do that is by loving and serving our literal neighbour. We have teams that will help meet needs of those within and outside our Harmony community. Some people need extra help moving, needing meals or transportation to medical appointments and don’t have anyone to help them do those things. We do our best to help meet those needs. If you want to be a part of this team or know someone who can benefit from it please contact us via the contact page.
We have partnerships throughout the greater Christchurch region. These partnerships allow us to serve in ways we might not normally serve and are meeting specific needs we see around us such as; food outreach to the homeless and dance outreach in Central Christchurch.
Harmony Church is currently activley supporting missions work in the following locations:
– YWAM New Zealand
We value missions that involve:
- Opportunities for mission’s trips to see others grow, and change and be challenged.
- An emphasis on being encouraged to develop friendships with non-Christians.
- Being involved with mission’s organisations and being aware of what is happening in other countries.
- Cross-cultural setting and being among different ethnicities and multicultural fellowship.
- Our fellowship makes a home for international cultures.
- Opportunities to try new things, take risks and grow.
